In other words, all your connection requests are first sent to a proxy server where your real IP address is masked with that of your proxy server's IP before any request is forwarded to a website. Configuring Proxy on iPhone: A Step By Step Guide
Below is a step-by-step guide to configuring proxy settings on your iPhone.
Step 1: Go to iPhone Settings
The very first step to setup a proxy on IOS is to open your iPhone's "Settings."
Step 2: Enable Wi-Fi
The next step is to select the Wi-Fi option in the Settings. It is usually below the "Airplane Mode" option and above the "Bluetooth" option.
Step 3: Select the Connected Wi-Fi Network
After enabling your Wi-Fi in the Settings, you need to select the connected Wi-Fi network. To identify the network, look for a blue checkmark next to the network's name on the left.
Step 4: Select Configure Proxy
To complete this step, navigate to the bottom of the Settings and select Configure Proxy under HTTP Proxy.
Step 5: Click on Manual Configuration
You will see the Off, Manual, and Automatic options under Configure Proxy. Make sure you select the "Manual" configuration.
For Automatic configuration, see if your proxy provider has shared a link to the proxy configuration file with you. If yes, you can simply go to Automatic configuration. However, you need to setup proxies manually in the case of most commercial proxy providers.
Step 6: Fill In Your Proxy Server's Details
Now you will be asked to enter your proxy server's details. This includes 3 fields:
Server: In the server field, you need to enter the Address or IP given by your proxy service provider.
IP Example: 506.457.14.512
Hostname Example: server1.mydomain.com
Port: In this field, you need to enter the Port Number. It is the number that is usually given at the end of the hostname or IP. You will find this number separated by a colon.
Port Number Example: server1.mydomain.com: 10000
Authentication: Simply turn on the Authentication in case of whitelisted proxies, or enter your proxy username and password to authenticate.
Step 7: Test Your Proxy Server
The last step is to see if your real IP has been masked with that of the proxy’s IP. For this, visit the website “What Is My IP Address” to check if your previous IP address has been changed. If it is replaced with a different IP address, you have successfully setup a proxy on your iPhone.
