Sticky sessions are designed to keep the same IP address for the configured session duration. However, there are situations where the IP may change.
Why can my sticky IP change?
Your session has expired
A sticky session only maintains the same IP for the configured session duration. Once the session expires, a new connection may receive a different IP.
Your session configuration changed
If your proxy configuration uses session information, make sure you continue using the same configuration throughout the session.
Creating a new session or changing the proxy configuration may result in a different IP being assigned.
Your application reconnects
Some browsers, applications, scrapers, and automation tools may automatically create new connections.
Check whether your software is:
Reconnecting automatically
Creating a new session
Changing the proxy configuration
Restarting the proxy connection
Your proxy settings were changed
Changing targeting or other proxy settings can result in a new IP being assigned.
How can I troubleshoot this?
If your sticky IP is changing unexpectedly:
Check your configured session duration.
Make sure your session configuration remains unchanged.
Check whether your application is creating new connections.
Avoid changing your proxy settings during an active session.
Generate a new sticky session and test it again.
If the IP changes before the configured session duration ends, contact Rainproxy Support with your proxy configuration and the approximate time when the IP changed.
